Family Ministry

A Neighborhood Church For both the young
and the young at heart

On February 12, by unanimous vote, and with my strong recommendation,( Rev. Evan Farrar) the Board of Trustees voted to create a new part-time position on our staff called the Family Ministry Coordinator (FMC). In worship, on February 22, I announced that Kate Banks, a member of our congregation, has agreed to fill this position and she will begin her employment with us on March 1st.

As the Family Ministry Coordinator, Kate will work with us to strengthen and expand our various family ministries including Family Night. You can read more about Kate in this issue of the Navigator as she introduces herself in our new Family Ministries Corner which will be a regular feature of the Navigator. We are delighted to have her join our staff!

Children can play in the church nursery while their parents are at worship service. The Nursery is just behind the pews where every week members of the church volunteer to watch over them while their parents are at worship.

Sunday School

Every Sunday just after the beginning of worship services, Rev. Evan Farrar calls the children up to the front to sit around him and hear him speak about different topics. We call this time  children's message time. These topics are then included into Sunday School where the children explore more on what he said.

Family Night

On the second Tuesday of the month, we have what we call a Family Night where not only just members of the church but everyone in the community can come and enjoy a night of fun and games. There are different themes every month, for example one month can be a movie night or the next month could be a pizza night. Whatever the theme may be, you can be sure that there will be a lots of fun for children of all ages.

Remember, this is not for just members of the church, but for anyone in the community who would like to have a night of fun and games. And plenty of food and dessert to.

As you can see from the above programs, the North Port Community United Church of Christ Family Ministry is a growing ministry. Even today more and more ideas are being look into to see what more we can do for our church and our community.
